About D6SCEND
A Journey of Puzzles, Purpose, and Possibility
From a winning game jam entry to a platform inspiring young minds, D6SCEND has evolved into something far beyond what I first imagined. This is the story so far.
The Journey
How D6SCEND Came to Be
During a medical leave of absence from Duke University's GDDI program, I entered the Duke Triangle GameJam with a simple idea: a puzzle game built around a six-sided die.
Against strong competition, D6SCEND won at the jam — and the overwhelming positive feedback from players lit a spark.
What started as a weekend project became a personal mission. Through playtesting, I discovered that much younger players were intuitively connecting with the game and developing real spatial reasoning skills. That discovery led to the creation of a browser-based editor and, ultimately, to Duke licensing D6SCEND and the editor for a middle school STEM competition.
Now, as I return to Duke's GDDI program, D6SCEND has been accepted as my solo-capstone project and is launching on Steam Early Access. The journey that began with a single idea on graph paper has grown into a vision with impact.
